The German American Business Circle  of Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh-German commerce, regularly make news and are in the news. Recent media appearances and the schedule of GABC events include:


March 25 — For the third straight year, the GABC, part of the German American Chamber of Commerce, and in partnership with the Pittsburgh Rotary Club Foundation, seeks applicants for its third annual $2,500 scholarship to benefit collegiate-level students. More.

Nov. 1 — At the GABC's fall 2015 meeting, Andrew Moore, Dean of the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University and one of Pittsburgh magazine’s “50 Most Powerful People,” speaks on "Artificial Intelligence and its Impact on Society." More.

Nov. 1 — A Washington & Jefferson College sophomore receives the GABC's second annual $2,500 scholarship. More.

June 9 — Saying it will take a “tipping point” of factors to convince a European airline to restore a direct flight to and from Pittsburgh, Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis addresses a highly interested audience at the GABC’s spring meeting. More.

Sept. 25 — Aric N. Brown, a sophomore at Washington and Jefferson College, is named recipient of the GABC's inaugural $2,500 scholarship in cooperation with the Pittsburgh Rotary Club Foundation, at the GABC's Oktoberfest event jointly hosted with the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh. More.

May 1 — On the eve of a weeklong visit to Germany, new Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto is the keynote speaker at the spring meeting of the German American Business Circle of Pittsburgh, held at the Hofbrauhaus Pittsburgh. More.

Feb. 19 — The GABC and Pittsburgh Rotary Club Foundation launch a $2,500 scholarship to benefit collegiate-level students in Western Pennsylvania who demonstrate academic excellence and strong interest in German-American business affairs and culture, and who plan to further their studies at an accredited institution of higher learning in Germany. Nov. 7 — The Oktoberfest meeting features "What Commonwealth Is Doing to Attract Business and Promote Exports in Europe," including remarks by Wilfred Muskens, Deputy Secretary for International Business Development, Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development. More.

May 21 — Guest speaker George Mokrzan, Director of Economics with Huntington Bank, speaks at the GABC's spring meeting on "The Economy in 2013: A Period of Heightened Risk and Opportunity," with an introductory welcome by Susan Baker Shipley, President of Huntington Bank's Western Pennsylvania and Ohio Valley Region. Nov. 7 — Dennis Yablonsky, CEO of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, and former Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development, speaks on "The Present State and Future of our Regional Economy" at the fall meeting of the German American Business Circle of Pittsburgh. Nov. 3 — At the November 2011 Oktoberfest celebration, Jochen Meyer is announced as the GABC's new chairman. The meeting features presentations by Victoria Demo, senior vice president at RBS Securities, Inc., and Barbara Schwarck, executive coach, author and CEO of Clear Intentions International. More.
